Research lines

The research activity of PoliLaPP pertains to the corrosion of metallic materials and their protection, with particular attention to cathodic protection, a field where PoliLaPP has a recognized experience concerning both the electrochemical aspects and its technological and industrial development.
The main ongoing research acvitities are:

  • corrosion of metallic materials in natural (soil, water, atmosphere) and industrial environments
  • determination of Pedeferri Diagrams for stainless steels
  • monitoring of cathodic protection and measurement techniques
  • effect of direct and alternating current on cathodic protection conditions of buried structures
  • validation of a provisional model for corrosion rate of metals in acid environment
  • electrochemical oxidation of titanium to increase corrosion resistance
  • hydrogen embrittlement in pipeline steels
  • protection techniques for reinforced concrete: inhibitors and coatings
